ACCA BTBusiness and Technology

Learn how organisations work and how people, governance and ethics shape business decisions. Prepare for ACCA BT by recognising which concept fits a short business scenario and explaining why.

The syllabus, connected

What BT asks you to do.

A · Business environment

Understand stakeholders and external pressures.

B · Organisation and governance

Connect structure, culture and accountability.

C · Finance, systems and technology

Recognise controls and finance roles.

D · People and leadership

Apply motivation and team concepts.

E · Personal effectiveness

Prioritise work and communicate.

F · Professional ethics

Identify ethical threats and responses.

What the exam looks like

Two hours. 46 objective questions (76 marks) and six four-mark multi-task questions, one per syllabus area.

Task 1

Classify a workplace change as removing dissatisfaction or increasing intrinsic motivation, then justify the distinction.

Syllabus updates and the 2027 transition

No syllabus additions, deletions or amendments for September 2026–June 2027. The redesigned qualification is a separate transition.

Learn from examiner observations

Turn exam feedback into a preparation habit.

September 2025–August 2026

  • Separate audit-committee oversight from audit execution. For each scenario, identify who reviews reporting and controls, who investigates, and who appoints directors.
  • Use the stated facts to identify a data-protection breach or suitable leadership behaviour. Do not infer an additional breach just because it sounds plausible.

September 2024–August 2025

systematic programme of study
  • Similar concepts must be distinguished using scenario evidence: stakeholder power versus interest, governance theories and barriers to effective work. Practise explaining why each rejected option does not fit.

Prepare for BT with a feedback loop.

Learn the topic

Study BT video theory, then apply it to practice tasks.

Check your answer

Check your objective-question results and discuss the reasoning with Asya. Focus on why the correct option fits the facts.

Choose what comes next

Your results inform the knowledge map and personal practice priorities.

  • Read the situation before naming a theory. Explain the fact that makes one option fit and the fact that rules another out.
  • Compare neighbouring ideas together: power and interest, Theory X and Y, self-interest and familiarity.
  • Mix questions from all six areas; use mistakes to choose the next short revision session.
