These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the RY Studies website at rystudies.com, the learning platform at practice.rystudies.com, and all related content, tools and services (together, the “Service”).
The Service is operated by RY Studies, a trade name of Iana Golovanova, a sole proprietor (eenmanszaak) established in the Netherlands, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) under number 42080594, VAT identification number NL005484505B49, with registered address De Peppels 28, 1402 KV Bussum, the Netherlands (“RY Studies”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
You can contact us at any time at info@rystudies.com.
By creating an account, starting a free trial, or purchasing access, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1.1 You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. The Service is intended for adults preparing for ACCA examinations and is not directed at children.
1.2 You must provide accurate, current and complete registration information and keep it up to date.
1.3 Sanctions. You may not use the Service if you are located in, ordinarily resident in, or accessing the Service from a country or territory subject to comprehensive sanctions, or if you are a person with whom we are prohibited from dealing under applicable sanctions law. In particular, the Service is not available to persons resident in the Russian Federation. You are responsible for compliance with the laws applicable to you.
1.4 Your account is personal to you. You may not share your login, transfer your account, or allow any third party to access the Service using your credentials.
2.1 The Service provides ACCA exam-preparation materials and tools, which may include: a practice-question bank and CBE-style mock exams; automated (“AI”) marking of written answers; Asya, an AI study tutor; a personalised mastery map and analytics; video lectures and study notes; and, for certain products, human tutor review offered separately.
2.2 Not affiliated with ACCA’s examining function. RY Studies is an independent learning provider. We are not the ACCA, we do not set or mark official ACCA examinations, and nothing in the Service is an official ACCA assessment or guarantees any examination outcome. References to ACCA papers and examiner marking schemes are for study purposes only.
2.3 No guarantee of results. We give you tools and feedback to improve your chances of passing. We do not and cannot guarantee that you will pass any examination. Any voluntary “Pass Guarantee” we offer is limited to what is set out in our Refund & Withdrawal Policy.
3.1 We offer free and paid products. The products available, their contents, the access period for each, and the prices are set out in our Pricing & Offers Schedule, which forms part of these Terms and which we may update from time to time. The price and product description shown to you at checkout govern your purchase.
3.2 Prices and changes. Prices are shown in euro (EUR) and include any applicable VAT where we are required to charge it. We may change prices and the contents of products. For one-time purchases, a change never affects access you have already bought. For subscriptions, we will give you reasonable advance notice of any price increase before it takes effect, and you may cancel before it applies; if you do not cancel, the new price applies from your next billing period.
3.3 Payment. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. By purchasing, you authorise us (through Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method. You are responsible for any bank or card fees on your side.
3.4 Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; your access continues until the end of the current paid period, after which it ends. We do not provide partial refunds for the unused part of a billing period except where required by law (see the Refund & Withdrawal Policy).
3.5 One-time products (e.g. a single paper) give access for the access period stated at checkout, after which access ends.
3.6 Business customers. If you buy using a business and provide a valid EU VAT number for reverse charge, the purchase may be treated as a business-to-business transaction. Business customers are not “consumers” and the statutory consumer right of withdrawal in clause 8 does not apply to them.
4.1 What they are. Asya and the AI-marking feature are automated tools powered by third-party large-language-model providers. They are designed to help you study: Asya explains concepts and tutors you (including in your chosen language), and the AI-marking feature compares your written answers against examiner-style marking schemes and gives indicative feedback.
4.2 Feedback is indicative and formative. AI marks, scores and explanations are study aids, not authoritative assessments. They are generated automatically, may contain errors or omissions, and are not official ACCA marking. The only authoritative result for any ACCA examination is the result issued by the ACCA. You should not rely on AI output as professional accounting, tax, legal, financial or examination advice, and you should use your own judgement and other study resources.
4.3 Your right to question a mark. Because AI marking is formative, it does not produce legal or similarly significant effects and is not an “automated decision” of the kind regulated by Article 22 GDPR. Nevertheless, if you disagree with any AI-generated mark or feedback, you may flag it within the platform, set out your own view, and ask us to review it. We will look at flagged items and respond.
4.4 Third-party providers. We currently use Anthropic (Claude) to power Asya and AI marking, accessed under commercial terms under which, by default, your inputs and outputs are not used to train the provider’s models. We may change or add AI providers. We are not responsible for changes the provider makes to its underlying models, for temporary unavailability of a provider, or for the inherent limitations of AI systems. How we handle the personal data you put into these tools is described in our Privacy Policy.
4.5 Acceptable use of AI tools. You may use Asya and AI marking only for your own genuine ACCA study. You must not: attempt to extract, copy or reverse-engineer our prompts, system instructions or models; attempt to jailbreak, overload or misuse the tools; input other people’s personal data or confidential information; or use the tools to generate content unrelated to your studies, unlawful content, or content that infringes others’ rights.
5.1 You agree not to: (a) copy, download (except as the Service expressly allows), redistribute, resell, publish or share any course content, questions, answers, notes, videos or materials; (b) scrape, crawl or bulk-extract content or use automated means to access the Service; © share your account or make content available to non-subscribers; (d) interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; or (e) use the Service in any way that breaches applicable law, ACCA’s own student rules, or the integrity of any examination.
5.2 Academic integrity. The Service is for learning and practice. You must not use it to cheat in, or undermine the integrity of, any live ACCA examination or assessment.
5.3 We may suspend or terminate your account, without refund, if you materially breach these Terms (for example, by sharing your account or content, or by abusing the AI tools or the Pass Guarantee).
6.1 All content in the Service — including questions, mock exams, marking schemes, notes, videos, the mastery-map system, the Asya tutor, software, design, logos and the “RY Studies” name — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws.
6.2 We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content for your own ACCA study during your access period. No other rights are granted. Any feedback you choose to give us about the Service may be used by us without obligation to you.
7.1 We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may carry out maintenance, update or modify features, or discontinue parts of the Service. If we discontinue a paid product you have already bought, we will offer a fair remedy (such as a comparable replacement or a pro-rata refund of the unused portion).
7.2 We provide support by email at info@rystudies.com.
8.1 If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days, subject to the rules and the digital-content waiver described in our Refund & Withdrawal Policy.
8.2 Cancellation of subscriptions, the voluntary Pass Guarantee, and how refunds are paid are all set out in the Refund & Withdrawal Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
9.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under the mandatory law applicable to you as a consumer.
9.2 Subject to clause 9.1, we are not liable for: examination results or any failure to pass; decisions you make in reliance on AI-generated feedback; loss caused by your breach of these Terms; or indirect or consequential loss. Subject to clause 9.1, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the liability.
9.3 The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent permitted by law. This does not affect the mandatory legal guarantees you may have as a consumer.
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle your personal data and use cookies. They form part of these Terms.
11.1 These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of the Netherlands, and the courts of the Netherlands have jurisdiction.
11.2 Consumer protection. If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, clause 11.1 does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement, and you may also be able to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
11.3 Online dispute resolution. The European Commission provides an online dispute-resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. You may also contact us directly to try to resolve any dispute.
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will give reasonable notice (for example, by email or a notice on the Service). Changes do not apply retroactively to access you have already purchased. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
